You are correct about vague. Light, portable, rugged and cheap! If all I'm doing is offloading and transferring, I don't need a huge screen.
We're using our G4 laptop but may look for another offload mule in the future. You get what you pay for. It's getting difficult to find this model now thoug. I'm a mac guy looking for a pc to offload.
Thanks for the lead! Yeah, it just kills the other laptops - with just 50 dollars more, you get 2gb extra ram, great memory, duo core processor. Weighs less then a Mac book and it even runs Premiere and edits HD!

It is connected via USB and therefore uses the uhci-hcd kernel module. This was small enough to not add any real bulk to my carrying case, a great pair to the X C61 card and RAM and all that shouldn't matter all that much, unless you want to be able to play the footage back in the field using P2 Viewer; in that case you'd want a dual-core and a good accelerated graphics card.
